1. Séoul, la capitale, est la troisième mégalopole la plus peuplée au monde, derrière Tokyo et Mexico et juste devant...New-York !
2. Les coréens et coréennes portent un intérêt particulier aux cosmétiques. La Corée est le marché n.1 mondial pour les cosmétiques masculins. La plupart des marques testent d'ailleurs leurs produits sur le marché coréen avant de le lancer ailleurs.
3. Vous savez les BB Cream & autres CC Cream dont tout le monde parle ? Et bien les premiers à les créer et les utiliser ont été les coréens... !
4. Jeju Island, île appartenant à la Corée du Sud, est la 7eme (nouvelle) merveille du monde.
5. Les séries asiatiques, appelées dramas, sont extrêmement populaires mais ceux s'exportant le plus (en Asie et mondialement) sont les dramas coréens.
6. D'ici 20 ans, il y aura une pénurie de main d'oeuvre. Si la quasi totalité des coréens font des études, ils méprisent les formations "manuelles" et devront probablement avoir recours à la main d'oeuvre étrangère.
7. Les coréens sont très chauvins et sont fiers d'acheter les produits coréens (notamment Samsung, LG & Hyundai). Une écrasante majorité de la population place "faire quelque chose de grand pour mon pays" extrêmement haut dans sa liste d'aspirations.
8. Si beaucoup de coréens font des études supérieures, les coréennes en font également mais pour parvenir à "bien" se marier, comprenez à un bon parti, ayant fait de bonnes études et qui gagnera bien sa vie. Les mariages "arrangés" sont encore assez courant là-bas.
9. En Corée, il existe un "troisième sexe" (les ahjumma): ce sont des femmes mariées et plutôt bien mariées. Elles s'arrogent tout un tas de droits simplement du fait de leur statut et n'hésiterons pas à doubler tout le monde dans une file d'attente, bousculer dans le bus pour passer...sans que personne ne dise rien !
10. Et non, Gangnam Style, ce n'est pas de la k-pop.

5. Asian series are called dramas and are highly popular all over Asia. However, the most popular are the Korean ones, whether it's in Asia or beyond.
6. 20 years from now, Korea will lack workforce. Most of Koreans do studies but they discard "manual work" and short studies which is why they will probably resort to foreign workforce.
7. Korean people are very chauvinistic so there are proud to buy national products, particularly products from Samsung, LG & Hyundai. A vast majority of the young still want to "do something great for their country" as a goal.
8. As I was saying before, most of Korean do higher education and go to uni, however Korean women do so to find a good match, meaning a man going to a well-ranked uni. Arranged marriages are still common there.
9. In South Korea, there is what is called "third sex" (sorry, I translated the expression from French as I do not know it in English) or the ahjummas in Korean. Those women are married women that arrogate themselves rights and wouldn't wait in line and just go first or shove past people to get a seat on the bus; just because they found a good match! No one pays attention to it anymore, apart from foreigners obviously.
10. Sorry, but Gangnam Style is nothing like k-pop!
